The School of Policy Studies English Language Program, or SPS-ELP for short, is a two-year English program for freshman and sophomore students that delivers quality pedagogical content based on the development of the necessary language skills that current students will need if they are to compete in a globalized marketplace. The skills of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking are fully integrated from semester to semester and also across concurrent courses, providing students with a strong foundation in all areas. Students are carefully streamed using TOEFL scores upon entry and after their first year. A further TOEFL test is taken at the end of the second year, to show the effectiveness of the program and any areas for improvement. Students are expected to fully attend and participate in English-only class meetings.
