授業の目的    Course Objectives:
The aim of this course is to help students understand various concepts and important issues in policy discussion and language policy research. This is a basic seminar on policy studies, focusing especially on language policy.
• Students can answer questions about the Policy Cycle.
• Students can answer questions about stakeholders.
• Students can understand the scope of a policy.
• Students can learn about policies affecting language and culture.
• Students can begin to think morally about social behavior and policy.
Students should have a general awareness of the topics covered by John Maher ジョン・マーハ (cf. 1991, 1993).

成績評価方法・基準    Method of Evaluation
There will be no exam during the final exam period. The grade for the course will be comprehensive. The grade will be based on classroom discussion, homework assignments, and fieldwork participation as follows:
• 50% classroom discussion
• 50% homework and fieldwork
Two extramural fieldwork meetings will be arranged according to the convenience of the students.
